The Porsche 911 is the most famous sports car built by the German car producer Porsche. It was designed by Ferdinand "Butzi" Porsche, grandson of the founder Ferdinand Porsche. Since the first introduction to the public in 1963, its well-known shape has hardly changed.
In 1964 the Porsche 911 became available to the public. Its 2.0 litre, 6 cylinder air-cooled engine delivered 130 Hp and was placed in the back. It was able to accelerate from 0 - 60 Mph in 8.9 seconds.
In 1966 the 911S with 160Hp and in 1976 the Targa were introduced. As the years passed by, the engine became more powerful and grew to 2.7 litre in 1974. The turbo version was introduced in 1975.
In the 90s environmental issues became more important. Combined with the demand for more performance the air-cooled engine became history. 1997 was the introduction year of the first water-cooled Porsche 911 with a 3.4 litre and 320 Hp engine.
According to some Porsche enthusiasts, the air-cooled Porsche 911 is the one and only Porsche. A real classic car, for sale on our site.
