A Corvette’s Rival: The American Legacy that is Ford Thunderbird
Ford thunderbird has been a byproduct of the minds of those people behind the marketing of Ford vehicles. Since Chevrolet Corvette has been launched in the market and has reaped a lot of favorable nods from car aficionados, Ford company has decided to come up with something that will outweigh and overshadow Corvette, and so, the rise of T-bird come about.
Ford thunderbird is intended to be a sports car just like the Chevrolet Corvette. However, it turned out not as a racing car but more of an elegant luxury car. T-bird was designed and created by three Ford executives who planned to devise a car that will run 100 miles per hour. Surprisingly, they have been successful in gaining this part of speed as the t-bird can run 110 to 140 miles per hour. It‘s window is made of fiberglass, 2 door convertible and a V8 engine.

Before the vehicle was introduced in the public in the year 1954, it goes through another controversial stage of coming up with a unique name that will strike the public and make the Ford’s own version of Corvette’s entrance a grand one. The Ford Company then held a name-that-vehicle competition which paved way for a stylist to win the nods of Ford executives and finally naming the car Ford thunderbird.
